Good article on the Electric Sheep Project from Scott Draves, the architect behind it. Electric Sheep is a screen saver that, when it runs (..), dedicates CPU cycles to generating phenotypes of artificial organisms - "electric sheep". The sheep are calculated in a distributed fashion by the collective amount of installed clients.. a collective digital dream.. Nice :). Anyhow, the article in question goes into details concerning the technical make up of the client/server system as well as potential future developments. Neat stuff.

Very nice article summarizing all the options available - makes me think that offline tools are going the way of.. well away. Ah well, for now I guess most people have less than 100% reliable net connections which means that online tools such as these offer a half baked solution.. especially if one likes to work on the road. Oh wait, looks like Google is about to solve that problem.
